How we do it
A good powder coat is mostly preparation. Everything we coat is grit blasted to SA2½ or, for thin sheet, iron-phosphate washed, so the powder bonds to clean metal rather than mill scale.
The booth and the 7-metre oven take a full structural section or a spiral stair in one piece. Standard colours run every week; any other RAL colour runs as soon as there is a batch, usually within five working days.
For steel that lives outside, we recommend a zinc-rich primer under the topcoat, or powder over galvanising. Every batch gets a film-thickness and adhesion check, and the numbers go on the delivery note.
Included as standard
- Masking of threads and faying surfaces
- Colour-matched touch-up with every order
- Coating on galvanised steel (duplex)
- Coating of parts you did not buy from us
“We sent the steel package on a Tuesday and had a price with three sensible questions by Thursday. The mezzanine went up over two weekend shifts and the line never stopped.”
Questions about powder coating
Will you coat parts made elsewhere?
Yes. Bring them clean and free of silicone, and we will blast and coat them on the next run of that colour.
How long does a powder coat last outside?
On blasted steel with a zinc-rich primer, typically 15 to 20 years before it needs attention. On galvanised steel, longer.
