How we do it
Stairs are the most visible thing we make, and the one people use every day, so they get a site measure rather than a guess. We survey anything within 30 miles, draw it, and send the drawings back for approval with the calculations.
Escape stairs are usually galvanised flights with chequer-plate or grating treads and a bar-infill balustrade. Feature stairs inside a building are more often folded plate, fine-texture powder coat and a flat-bar handrail that looks drawn rather than bought.
Our own squad fits what we make. Most straight flights go in within a day, and a stair with landings in two.
Included as standard

- Handrail heights and gaps checked to Part K
- Fitting, fixings and making good
“Four hundred laser-cut brackets a month, folded and powder coated, and I have not had to chase a delivery in two years. That is the whole review.”
Questions about stairs
Can you match an architect's detail?
Yes. We build to the drawn detail and send a sample of a tread, a newel or a handrail joint for approval first.
Galvanised or powder coated outside?
Both, if it is going to live outdoors for decades. Duplex finishing costs more once and nothing again for a long time.
